Transport

OUR SERVICE

When arriving in Prague, your safest bet is to arrange private transportation (car service) to your apartment. From the airport, private transportation is available for 650 CZK (26 EUR). From the bus or railway station, it’s 400 CZK (16 EUR). In order to arrange this service, we will need the following details: the exact time of your arrival, flight or train number, and the name of the place you wish to be picked up from.

TAXI

While city officials have recently instituted measures to try and prevent taxi drivers from ripping off clients, it is still a bit of a gamble to take taxis from the street – particularly those waiting outside the bus and train stations. If you must take a taxi, try to agree on a price with the driver before getting into the vehicle. If taking a taxi from the airport, this shouldn’t be a problem, as the airport taxis generally operate on a system of set fees for transportation to specific areas.

BUS

For guests arriving at the airport, another option is to take the airport mini-bus to the city center. This mode of transportation costs 90 CZK (around 3 EUR) per person, and the final destination is Namesti Republiky – just a short walking distance from the Old Town. These mini-buses can usually be found waiting in front of the terminal.

TRAIN

Prague’s main train station is Praha Hlavní nádraží. If you are coming to Prague on an international train, then it will probably arrive at this station. The station is conveniently located in the city center. Smaller Prague train stations include Holešovice, Smíchovské nadraží, and Liben.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

Prague boasts a convenient network of public transportation options, enabling residents to move about the city via tram, bus, and metro (subway.) Tickets cost 12 CZK (0.42 EUR). As there are only three metro lines in Prague, the metro is perhaps the easiest (and fastest) mode of transportation for visitors to navigate – just follow the platform signs. The tram is another convenient method of transport, and is the only way to get around after midnight. Buses are convenient for reaching locations on the outskirts of the city center (such as the airport.)

Public transportation is most crowded during morning and evening rush hour, and is best avoided during these times.
