Esther Cobbah named Woman of the Year at GOWA

Corporate Communications Strategist, Madame Esther Cobbah emerged as the ultimate winner (Woman of the Wear) at the fifth edition of the Ghana Outstanding Women’s Award (GOWA) held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra on Saturday.

His excellence in corporate communication for decades prompted the organizers of the prestigious award to award him the flagship distinction.

Flagship initiatives of the winner are credited for the influx of foreign investors into Ghana for oil exploration; giving the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation the basic seismic data for the discovery of oil in 2007.

She was also the first businesswoman to develop a communication strategy for the benefits of LPG gas, helping to steer Ghanaians away from using coal stoves. Through this initiative, she developed the KLEEKCOOK stoves that use gas instead of charcoal.

She is a graduate of the University of Ghana, Legon and Cornell University. With over 30 years of experience in the field of communications, Ms. Cobbah is also the founder and managing director of Strategic Communications Africa Ltd (Stratcomm Africa), a Ghana-based communications and reputation management agency, which has served over 150 local and international clients. .

In an address after receiving the award, Ms. Cobbah expressed her gratitude to the organizers for the recognition and honour.

The CEO of ASKOF Productions, the organizers of the event, Mrs. Afua Asantewaa Aduonum congratulated all the nominees for the positive role they play in their communities.

She explained how difficult the course had been, but the resilience of her team and the support of sponsors had sustained the event.

The night saw stunning musical performances from the iconic gospel trio of Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Mr. Drew and Akatakyie.

The awards program aims to recognize women who positively impact the lives of their communities with projects and programs.
