Accor has expanded its already considerable portfolio of hotels in Australia, with the multi-million dollar transformation of a property in Melbourne.

Located on Bell Street in Preston, the Novotel Melbourne Preston, developed by GCP Hospitality, has 383 fully self-contained rooms, suites and studios.

All rooms have a smart TV, several USB hubs, a work space, a safe and a minibar on request.

Christophe Vielle, CEO and co-founder of GCP Hospitality, said: “The opening of Novotel Melbourne Preston is a crucial step for GCP Hospitality as it demonstrates our desire to expand our hotel portfolio in Australia. Close to Melbourne’s CBD and major attractions, Novotel Melbourne Preston is poised to become an exciting destination for business travelers and tourists alike.”

Melbourne-based architecture and design studio Architectus has been contracted for the redesign which includes guest rooms, meeting and event spaces, reception and lobby, plus a brand new Stampton & Co cafe and an all-day dining restaurant The Stampton, slated to open in April 2022.

Sarah Derry, CEO of Accor Pacific, said: “We are delighted to bring our Novotel brand to North Melbourne. The Novotel Melbourne Preston is a celebration of innovative interior design, thoughtful detailing and, importantly for this location, will provide excellent food and beverage options for our loyal guests and the local community. The hotel was designed to suit smart and successful business and leisure travelers who value excellent customer service and cutting-edge design.

Novotel has one of the largest international brand footprints across the Pacific with over 40 hotels in key metropolitan and leisure destinations.
